Cooling Systems
Today’s vehicles are usually filled with extended-life engine coolant. The obvious advantage of this better quality coolant is that cooling systems require less servicing. However, this added level of comfort has caused many drivers to neglect proper maintenance. There is potential for severe damage to your vehicle if your car overheats, which is why monitoring coolant level and condition is rather important. Generally speaking, most modern coolants are rated to last 120,000 to 150,000 miles before the system needs to be flushed and replaced with new fluid.
At Archer’s, our philosophy is that there are many factors that can influence the life cycle of fluids. That is why we recommend having the condition of your fluids checked periodically (every 30,000 miles after reaching 60,000). We have the capacity to test your engine’s coolant for freezing point, boiling point, reserve alkalinity, and pH balance. Our experienced technicians view the results and can recommend services based on actual need. In our view, it is unnecessary to replace most parts or fluids based on an arbitrary mileage. Wear and degradation are much better indicators for service, which saves our customers substantial money in the long-term.
Our shop performs all services on your engine’s temperature maintenance systems. If you notice a coolant leak, don’t hesitate to bring your car in for inspection. Addressing a small drip early can be the difference between simply replacing a hose and having to install a completely new water pump.
Our cooling systems services include the following: Water pumps, Coolant reservoirs, Engine temperature sensors, Cooling fans/shrouds, Heater cores, Radiator/Heater hoses, Radiators, Thermostats and Thermostat housings.
